Is the equipment the most advanced available?

The most advanced equipment

This point is extremely important. As with home electronics, cosmetic equipment evolves every three or four years. Even if the equipment is ‘new’ to your doctor, it may still be older technology. Ask about the type of equipment at the Clinic.

At Cosmetic Care, we have already replaced and updated our lasers and microdermabrator, even though they were only three years old. Technology changes fast! There is always something better on the market for patient care. We use the newest and safest equipment.

Sometimes equipment may be FDA approved (the USA Ministry of Health) and CE approved (the European standard), but the equipment is so new that it is classed as ‘experimental’ in Canada, giving us the option to select the safest and most effective treatment machines for your care. We do so even though it is costly for us to change equipment so frequently.

Good outcomes need skilled hands and good equipment. Our outdated machines included a “Lightsheer” laser for laser hair removal, a “Quantum” for IPL Photofacials, and a Dermagenesis PSS microdermabrator. We used these systems for the first three years of our practice. They did work to a degree and were the best in 2001, but they had higher rates of complications than our new machines. In addition, with the new machines, we can achieve better results. We both have a role to play. You need to invest in your care, and we need to invest in your care by using the best equipment in the world.
